How Playing an Instrument Makes You Smarter

Everyone agrees that having a past time or hobby makes you a more rounded person. Personally speaking, if you like to think of yourself as more smart then that's cool. I look at this from a different angle in so much as telling people you play a musical instrument and it gives you great pleasure gives you a starting point for a conversation. Not sure I am any smarter, just maybe have a few more strings to my bow (so to speak!!)
